So I thought the foundation of the Republican party was that it's anti "big government", i.e., the government shouldn't be able to tell people what to do. But what I can't resolve in my head is how that came to be coupled with the "pro life" (a stance I'd rather be called "anti-abortion", because really, who isn't for being alive?), pro death penalty, and anti gay marriage aspects of modern Republicanism. Why should the government be allowed to tell people what to do in issues related to what I guess you'd call morality, but not in the environmental or economical sense?
I'm not asking to be cheeky, I'm asking because I really don't understand.

Small government means limited power for politicians. What politician would be in favor of that?!
I would. Which is why I'll never be a politician. That and all those unfortunate photos of me clubbing baby seals.
Why do baby seals taste so much better than adult seals? I am going to go make a baby seal sandwich right now.
